I’ve got a hot date with my roommate tonight and if there is one thing that she loves it is cookie dough. So, just for Morgan, I didn’t bake anything for Valentine’s Day.
For the lovers of raw dough in your life, this might be the greatest gift you could give them. You can eat with a spoon straight from the mixing bowl, you can roll it into balls and dip it in chocolate, you can add it to ice cream, and I bet you have a really great imagination and can think of all sorts of other things too!
cookie dough
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
½ tablespoon vanilla
⅓ cup greek-yogurt
1 ¼ cup ap flour
½ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips (or however much you feel like because you might just need some extra chocolatey comfort, I don’t know!) plus some more for melting if you want to dip your dough
- Beat together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add in the yogurt and vanilla and mix well.
- Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix until combined. If you want to be extra safe, you can toast your flour by putting it on a baking sheet and sticking it in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes. Let it cool before you mix it into butter mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- If you plan on shaping the dough, stick it in the freezer for 30 minutes or so to help it firm up. I put my dough into the silicone molds that my aunties gave me for V-Day last year (sprayed with a bit of cooking spray) and popped them in the freezer. After a couple of hours, I pulled them out, cut around the edges of the mold and popped out the hearts. I drizzled them with chocolate, added some sprinkles and hid them in the freezer.
- Keep the dough (if there is any leftover) in the fridge or freezer.
