cookie dough

I’ve got a hot date with my roommate tonight and if there is one thing that she loves it is cookie dough. So, just for Morgan, I didn’t bake anything for Valentine’s Day.

For the lovers of raw dough in your life, this might be the greatest gift you could give them. You can eat with a spoon straight from the mixing bowl, you can roll it into balls and dip it in chocolate, you can add it to ice cream, and I bet you have a really great imagination and can think of all sorts of other things too!

cookie dough

1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
½ tablespoon vanilla
⅓ cup greek-yogurt
1 ¼ cup ap flour
½ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips (or however much you feel like because you might just need some extra chocolatey comfort, I don’t know!) plus some more for melting if you want to dip your dough

  1. Beat together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add in the yogurt and vanilla and mix well.
  2. Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix until combined. If you want to be extra safe, you can toast your flour by putting it on a baking sheet and sticking it in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes. Let it cool before you mix it into butter mixture.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. If you plan on shaping the dough, stick it in the freezer for 30 minutes or so to help it firm up. I put my dough into the silicone molds that my aunties gave me for V-Day last year (sprayed with a bit of cooking spray) and popped them in the freezer. After a couple of hours, I pulled them out, cut around the edges of the mold and popped out the hearts. I drizzled them with chocolate, added some sprinkles and hid them in the freezer.
  5. Keep the dough (if there is any leftover) in the fridge or freezer.
